De-HOA Cape Coral

Permitting Reform is Long Overdue

Cape Coral has often been called the country’s largest HOA with the amount of regulations that are put on the citizens.  Our current permitting system has become a bottleneck that increases costs, delays economic growth, and frustrates residents and business owners alike.  Our code enforcement  do not have uniform standards, our Building Division does not cooperate with industry leaders, and our residents and business owners remain victims of over-regulation.

IT IS TIME TO DE-HOA CAPE CORAL.

If elected to the Cape Coral City Council, I intend to introduce the reforms below in my First 100 Days.

Require Cooperation

  • Require the City Manager to cooperate with interlocal agencies and industry groups to improve efficiency
  • Establish a joint MOU between the City, the CCCIA, and the Lee County BIA, bringing all stakeholders equally to the table

Streamline Permitting

  • Cut unnecessary permits and permitting requirements
  • Combine duplicate permits and allow for permits with identical specifications to be approved with one application
  • Bring in more customer service agents to clear permits agents and dedicate agents to assist with clearing delayed permits

Deregulate Residents & Protect Your Rights

  • Cut any regulations that are unnecessary, invasive, or which violate residential property rights.  Regulations should be solely limited to safety and neighborhood quality of life.
  • Allow well-kept commercial vehicles and boats on personal property
  • Prohibit invasive code enforcement measures such as surveillance
  • End regulations on residents and businesses that allow for warrantless searches and seizures
  • Eliminate regulations that punish business owners when they are victims of crimes.
